Federal ammunition
Federal Ammunition traces its modern beginning to 1922, when Charles Horn helped reopen an ammunition plant in Anoka, Minnesota. The company first built its business around shotshells and added rimfire production in the 1920s.
Federal now makes handgun, rifle, rimfire, and shotshell ammunition. Its American Eagle name grew from the American Cartridge Company, which Federal acquired in 1924. Across these lines, bullet design and ballistic figures vary by exact load; the manufacturer part number is the best way to distinguish one Federal product from another.
